Oobleck science experiment!

We made Oobleck by mixing cornflour and water together, and adding some food colouring to make it look interesting!
At first we thought that the water would make the cornflour all sticky and gluggy like glue. When we put our hands in we discovered that it was really hard, but then it started to ooze off our fingers!
We found out that it has a tricky name (a non-newtonian fluid), which means that it is like a liquid when you pour it, but when you push on it the force makes it like a solid!
We had lots of fun and did some great writing about our Science experiment!

Determination

Our Hinni kid value of the week has been determination. We thought that this value is important as it helps us to do our best. This is because we know we can do something so we can try very hard.

We thought that we have all been showing determination as we are practicing for our Cross Country everyday!

Hinni Kid Value of the Week

Patience
This week our value has been patience. Room 3 Hinni kids have been showing this value in many different ways.
We think this is very important because it helps us to be nice and get along well with our friends.

We talked about patience being:

·   - That you have to wait your turn and don’t push in - Regan
   - Let other people in front of you and then you can be patient - Summer R
- Putting your hand up quietly – Neisha
- We show patience by waiting for our turn in news before we share - Scarlett
We were showing Patience during our donut circle news time

Patterns

Algebra Patterns
We are learning to recognise and create patterns.
Our focus in maths has been looking at patterns and making our own. First we brainstormed what we thought about patterns and what they were:

·      They are shapes and we make them join – Regan

·      They use different colours – Skyla and Ella T

·      You put them in the same order - Kassia

Then we shared some of our pattern ideas on the interactive whiteboard:
Then we made some of our patterns with some things in the class like dinosaurs and using different colour pieces of paper and shapes.
Here are some of the patters we created.
We now know that patterns are repeating and were all able to describe our repeating patterns to our partners!
